INDEPENDENCE, Iowa — Fire officials were called to 214 Third Ave. SW in Independence just after 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Officials say no one was in the home at the time of the fire, but the home is a complete loss.

Both Jesup and Independence Fire Departments responded. Firefighters battled the wind and flames for hours.

Officials started knocking down the house after 5:00 on Thursday night to make sure the fire was completely out. Now all that remains is a pile of debris.

There were no injuries.

The fire is still under investigation.
