CLARKSVILLE, Iowa - The State Fire Marshal will be in Clarksville Tuesday to investigate the cause of a fire that destroyed a convenience store. The fire has also moved a polling location for Tuesday's elections.

Clarksville Police were dispatched to the Casey's General Store at 213 S Main Street at 1:50AM on Tuesday. Firefighters from Allison, Shell Rock and Clarksville all responded to the scene. Police tell TV9 the building is a total loss. That leaves only one gas station in the small town of about 1,500.

The convenience store was closed overnight, so no one was inside or hurt in the fire. A cause is still under investigation but it doesn't appear to be suspicious. Police say they've narrowed it down to the spot to where they think the fire started inside the building.

The Casey's store is next to a city polling place. Butler County Auditor Liz Williams says voting will now be held at the Clarksville Public Library on West Green Street, which is down the street from City Hall. Polls will be open until 8PM.
