Meth Lab May Have Caused Dubuque House Fire

    DUBUQUE, Iowa - Fire damaged a home on Garfield Avenue in Dubuque early Tuesday morning.

    The fire started around 3:30 am Tuesday. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home at 1001 Garfield Avenue.

    Three adults and three children were able to escape. One person suffered minor injuries.

    The initial investigation indicated the fire most likely started in the basement, where there were indications of possible methamphetamine manufacturing taking place. The residence is believed to be a total loss.
