Fayette County Man Sentenced to 110 Years
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A 76-year-old Fayette County man convicted by a federal jury last year of sexually exploiting children and possessing child pornography will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Benton Stong of Oran, was sentenced to 110 years in federal prison Monday, according to online records. He was found guilty in September of one count of sexual exploitation of children and four counts of possession of child pornography. The jury only took about one hour to convict him.
According to trial evidence, Stong persuaded, induced, and enticed four children to participate in making a pornographic video. He also possessed child pornography in his residence, between 2009 and 2012. The victims were 10 and 12 years old.
U.S. District Chief Judge Linda Reade sentenced Stong to the maximum sentence.
