Man Killed in Pickup Crash Near Bertram

BERTRAM, Iowa – Authorities are investigating a fatality accident near Bertram that was discovered early Thursday morning.
According to the Linn County sheriff’s office, a pickup was southbound on Bertram Street when it left the roadway, entered the west ditch and struck a tree near Big Creek Road. A deputy on routine patrol discovered the accident just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday.
Maj. Gerald Hansel said a 50-year-old male died in the crash. His name was not immediately released, pending notification of family members.
“He was the only occupant of the vehicle, as far as we know at this time,” Hansel said.
An investigation was continuing to determine what caused the crash.
