FAIRFIELD, Iowa (AP) - Farm crawls are becoming popular summer and fall activities as consumers seek out locally grown fresh produce and want to see how it's grown.

Farm crawls often feature tours that include not only farms serving food samples but wineries with wine tasting and sometimes greenhouses.

Hometown Harvest of Southeast Iowa in Fairfield is conducting a farm crawl from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday featuring ready-to-eat food at eight stops including four farms, two greenhouses, and two wineries.

The University of Northern Iowa Local Food Program is sponsoring a farm crawl from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday that includes a family-run fresh produce farm in Waterloo, Hansen Dairy in Hudson, the Hawkeye Buffalo Ranch near Fredericksburg, Jefferson Greenhouse and Orchard, and a Fitkin Popcorn farm.
