Family: Iowan 'Not Just Missing' During Mardi Gras

By Eric Hansen,

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police said Jessica Pratt, 34, is missing while on a trip to New Orleans.

"So, I mean, we really don't know what's going on. We're trying to follow all leads," said Ashley Partee, Jessica's niece.

Pratt flew to New Orleans a week ago to work in gentlemen's clubs.

"She never ended up working. She does have pancreatitis. I think she just wasn't feeling well. She may have been drinking also," said Partee.

Family said Pratt's credit card hasn't been used since she checked out of a hotel in a rough part of town last Thursday. Her phone hasn't been used in a week.

Pratt failed to make her flight back to Des Moines.

"This is very out of her character. She has three kids at home. She, like I said, her dad just had surgery on Tuesday. She would not contact her family. We do not believe she's just missing," said Partee.

During Mardi Gras, going on now in New Orleans, police have their hands full. Pratt's brother flew from Des Moines to New Orleans to search for himself.

"Just something don't seem right with it. I mean, just you add up all the details and things we've heard from people and it seems pretty fishy," said Buck Pratt, Jessica's cousin.

"We just want to bring her home," said Partee.
