DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — A Dubuque doctor is going into the distillery business with a little help from his family.

Joe Berger says three of his adult children will help him run Paradise Distilling Co. when it opens on March 1. The 11,000-square-foot facility will brew three styles of rum.

The 50-year-old Berger, a local obstetrician gynecologist, says he's been brewing beer at home for more than two decades. He's focusing on spirits because of the growing popularity of micro-distilleries.

The Telegraph Herald reports Berger's 20-year-old son will be his right-hand man in the new business. Another son will assist with distilling on the weekends while he attends Iowa State University. A daughter has been helping with social media and communications.

Tours of the distillery will be held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
