CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - It was a day of celebrating on this Mother's Day.

One Cedar Rapids family, however, had something extra to celebrate. Michelle Cahill just finished 13 weeks of chemotherapy.

Her and her family marked the occasion with a balloon release at Noelridge Park Sunday afternoon.

"You appreciate things more when you've had a bit of a tough time,” Michelle Cahill said. “So yea, I've definitely appreciated this Mother's Day more than I've appreciated any Mother’s Day before.”

Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer in November. The family says they released 14 balloons Monday afternoon: one for each week of chemotherapy and one for good luck.

The Cedar Rapids mother said the day was extra special because all four of her boys were home to spend the day with her.
