IOWA CITY ,Iowa - It's official. The University of Iowa will not receive federal funding to help rebuild the flood ravaged University of Iowa Art Museum. The final decision comes after a series of appeals from the UI.

Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency had said the museum did not meet the qualifications necessary to get replacement funds. FEMA denied the UI's initial appeal in January 2011, then a second appeal in May 2012.

University officials said Thursday that the museum would take priority in a new 1.7 billion dollar fundraising campaign.
