Ex-Officer's Trial Set in Choking Case
CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) - An April trial has been scheduled for a former northern Iowa police officer accused of choking a child.
The Mason City Globe Gazette reports that the trial date is April 18 for 43-year-old James Gray Jr., of Nora Springs. He's pleaded not guilty to a charge of child endangerment.
City records say he has left the Nora Springs force.
Court records say Gray threw a child onto a bed and choked him on Jan. 24, leaving a red mark on the boy's neck and under his left eye.
Gray wasn't on duty at the time.
