Ex Brokerage Worker Gets Prison for Fraud
MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - A former employee of a Mason City financial brokerage has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison for stealing more than $390,000 from clients.
U.S. Attorney Sean R. Berry said in a news release Monday that 42-year-old Teresa Dorenkamp, of Mason City, has been given 65 months of prison for one count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft. She pleaded guilty in August as part of a plea deal.
The charges relate to a single wire transfer in 2011 involving $36,000 from a customer's account. But she admits in the plea deal that she stole more than $390,000 between 2007 and 2011 through fraudulent transfers and deposits.
Dorenkamp has been ordered to pay all the money back as part of her sentence.
