Electrical Workers and Employers Donate $18,500 to Marion Cares

MARION, Iowa - Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and Sen. Liz Mathis (D-Cedar Rapids) stood outside Marion's Azure Apartments Monday evening to commemorate an $18,500 donation to Marion Cares, a faith-based group sponsoring programming and for students and families in the Marion and Linn-Mar community school districts.
FUSE, a coalition of local electrical union members and employers, donated the funds. The dollars will go toward staff stipends, supplies and location costs for Marion Cares' science, technology, engineering and math programming. Linn-Mar teachers lead those sessions at Azure twice a week after-school with local third-, fourth- and fifth-graders and Marion Cares plans to expand that programming to two more locations beginning in January 2013.
This is the second year FUSE has donated $18,500 to science, technology, engineering and math program.
