Eastern Iowans Taking Advantage of Dry, Cool Weather
By Mark Carlson, Reporter
IOWA CITY, Iowa - A stretch of cool dry weather is bringing relief to people living across Eastern Iowa.
In Iowa City, leases on thousands of properties are expiring and movers are enjoying the weather. One resident told KCRG-TV9 he seeks relief from the heat of moving by going outside to the moving truck where it's "nice and cool."
The cool weather caused some summer camp programs to cancel trips to the Iowa City Park pool. The city even closed the pool early this weekend because turn-out was so low.
Construction crews are taking advantage of the weather and gaining ground on projects. Crews have made progress in recent weeks on an airport expansion and safety project at the Iowa City Municipal Airport. Airport manager Michael Tharp said bad weather slowed the project in the spring so the progress is nice to see.
"It's great to see it coming along," he said. "This weather really helps."
Sailboaters took advantage of the cool windy weather over the weekend. Dozens of sailboats set sail at Lake Macbride Saturday afternoon.
