COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- RAGBRAI got rolling early Sunday morning out of Council Bluffs, but one man left without a bike.

Capt. Richard Kreser, 27, is running the entire RAGBRAI route. He's run ultra-marathons in the past and wanted to push himself with the 407 mile RAGBRAI Route.

"A lot of good support so far," Kresser told KCRG TV9. "Everyone has been saying 'good morning, good luck' and everyone has been, not living in Iowa anymore, how friendly everyone is so far."

Richard grew up in Raymond and he's raising money for the Veteran's Home in Marshalltown.

Monday will be the toughest test. The RAGBRAI route is 107 miles with the extended loops with lots of hills and Kresser plans to run all of it.

"I will start around 2 am and be out on the trails," said Kresser. "It may take me 24 hours and, hopefully, it will take me under 24 hours. I'd like to finish before midnight."
