DUBUQUE, Iowa - Three Dubuque schools were placed on locked early Wednesday afternoon after police advised they were searching for a gunman near the schools.

At about 12:35 p.m., Dubuque Police notified school officials at St. Anthony & Our Lady of Guadalupe they were pursuing a gunman at the corner of Rosedale and Glen Oak, just a few blocks from the schools. Police advised the schools to go into lockdown. Dubuque Senior High School also went on lockdown.

Police say the lockdown was recommended after a man threatened to harm himself.

Police were able to resolve the issue at about 1:15 p.m.
