Suspect In Custody Following Dubuque Cab Shooting

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Police in Dubuque have arrested a man they say was involved in a shoot-out with a taxi-cab driver. It happened at about 10:11 p.m. Monday.

The man, Shaun Caprice McCree, 36, of Apple River, Illinois, will be charged with first-degree robbery.

Police said McCree attempted to rob a cab driver parked near the corner of 2nd and Main Streets. Investigators said the driver fired a shots at the man. A second cab driver attempted to intervene and stop the robbery by crashing his cab into the victim's cab. McCree and the two cab drivers began physically fighting, the suspect then ran away.

Officers closed off 2nd Street between Main and Locust Streets as part of the investigation.

According to police, the victim is a male cab driver but officials would not describe the extent of his injuries. Evidence at the scene indicates McCree may have been injured.

McCree is being held in the Dubuque County Jail.
