DUBUQUE, Iowa - A convicted sex offender is accused of conducting nude photography sessions with minors in Dubuque County.
Dubuque Police said on Tuesday that Randall P. Trenary, 47, of Hazel Green, Wis. has been photographing minors over the last several months. Police said Trenary also asked the girls to text him nude photos. Trenary asked the girls if they would participate in nude photo sessions with him, police said.
Police were tipped off about Trenary on July 23. The tipster indicated Trenary took nude photographs of minors and also shared nude photos with them.
Trenary contacted the girls through his two Facebook pages: Buddy Rand Trenary and Trenary Photography LLC, police said. He allegedly promised girls modeling careers and also bought them clothing, gift cards and cell phones.
Investigators from the Dubuque Police Department, Dubuque County Sheriff's Office, the Grant County Sheriff's Office and Hazel Green Police Department were able to obtain evidence that corroborated the allegations against Trenary. Trenary was arrested Monday in Dubuque and faces one count of sexual exploitation of minors, a class C felony.
Anyone with information on Trenary is asked to call Cpl. Brendan Welsh at 563-589-4430 or Capt. Scott Engleman at 563-589-4467.
KCRG-TV9 spoke to an 18-year-old woman who said Trenary took pictures of her with her clothes on. She said she had no idea Trenary was a registered sex offender and that he'd want her to pose without her clothes on.
"When I got an offer I, I said, 'I should take this up. It's free. It will be fun' and you know I brought a friend of course." The woman said Ternary contacted her via facebook, offering to take her picture for free. "He did ask me to do nudes and I said "no" and he never asked again."
And while she didn't pose nude, the aspiring model says she feels exploited. "He should have told me to begin with right away. I probably would never have talked to him again."
