By Katie Wiedemann, Reporter
DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Boston Marathon's website reports at least 158 Iowans had registered to run in the race That includes a Dubuque native, 31-year-old Dana Wallis Flogel.
Flogel said she was actually at the starting line when she started getting stomach cramps so she had to drop out. She says she was bitterly disappointed but now believes a higher power kept her from running the race. Flogel says had she run, it's likely she would been right near the finish line at that time
Instead she and her husband, Jason Flogel, were watching the race just a few blocks away from where the bombs went off.
Dana Flogel said, "It was really really loud and maybe two seconds apart between the two of them and then within just a couple minutes of going off all the sirens and police and ambulances around the town just started going crazy. "
Flogel says cell phone service is hit or miss and she's having a hard time making calls. Dana is a Dubuque native. Jason is originally from La, Motte. The couple now lives in Des Moines.
