DUBUQUE, Iowa - A Dubuque man has pleaded not guilty to a charge in a deadly crash earlier this month.

Alex Hannan, 24, is charged with 1st-offense operating while intoxicated. He is currently free on bond.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Department said Hannan was driving on an onramp to U.S. 20 near Farley early on April 6th. Investigators said he hit and killed Dawson Besler, 21 of Epworth. Besler was walking in the roadway when, investigators said, Hannan's car hit him.

Prosecutors have not filed any other charges related to the crash.

Hannan's next court appearance is scheduled for May 22nd
