Dubuque Greyhound Park Vet, Assistant Suspended

  • Photo
DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - A Dubuque Greyhound Park veterinarian and his assistant have been suspended for four months, starting next racing season.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports that the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission last week ordered the occupational licenses of veterinarian John Haupert and his assistant Anne Pregler to be suspended from April 1 through Aug. 1.

Haupert declined to comment to the newspaper. A phone number for Pregler could not be found.

The commission says Pregler was not allowed to administer vaccinations to greyhounds without Haupert present, but that she gave the dogs nearly 100 vaccinations while Haupert was on vacation this summer.

Pregler was cited for administering treatment without the licensed veterinarian in the kennel, and Haupert was cited for allowing her to administer the treatments.
