Dubuque Fire Crews Rescue Boy Who Fell Through Ice

  • Photo
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Some quick action by Dubuque Fire Crews helped save a 12-year-old boy who had fallen through the ice.

Fire crews told KCRG-TV9 they were called out before 3:30 p.m. Saturday for the report of a boy caught in the ice at a pond at the Sisters of the Presentation at 2360 Carter Road.

It's about an acre sized pond.

Dubuque fire crews arrived 3 minutes later and pulled the boy out, but assistant chief Mark Ludescher said the ice was so weak along the edge that rescuers fell through getting the boy to shore.

Ludescher said the boy is getting checked out at the hospital.
