DUBUQUE, Iowa- A Dubuque business woman is hoping a letter she wrote to the city council will show them a need to reconsider a long-standing dog ban ordinance.

The ordinance bans dogs from city parks. Robin MacFarlane, owner of That's my Dog, a dog training business in Dubuque, claims tourists may not be familiar with the ban. The ban forces those owners to leave their pets inside cars or hotels...which is unsafe.

"People come here with the expectation of being able to walk their dogs through the park and they are surprised to find they can't. I think it's about creating a better reputation as a pet friendly community. " Said MacFarlane.

The letter will be read during Monday's City Council meeting, requesting a repeal on the ban.
