DUBUQUE, Iowa — Many Catholics around the world are speculating who will replace Pope Benedict. Earlier this week he announced he’ll retire at the end of the month.
In a lighthearted spirit, Tom Rauen, the owner of Envision Sports, a Dubuque screen printing business created a “Pope Pool”
It’s much like a N.C.A.A March Madness tournament bracket. The spoof includes Catholic Cardinals from all over the world, as well as candidates from the Dubuque area including local priests and the Archbishop.
Rauen said, “everyone gets really serious about it because it is a very big deal world wide, so we thought we’d have some fun with it so we posted it to Facebook. “
Rauen says once a new Pope is elected, pool winners will receive T-shirts, hats and coozies displaying the “Pope Pool” winner bragging rights.
