Des Moines Father Convicted in Baby's Death
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A Des Moines man has been convicted of killing his infant daughter in 2010.
A Polk County judge issued a verdict on Friday finding 22-year-old Ryan Trowbridge guilty of first-degree murder and child endangerment causing death. The ruling came after a bench trial in August. Trowbridge and his 4-month-old daughter Rylee lived in Ankeny when she died of head injuries on July 12, 2010.
Trowbridge said he put his daughter on a bed for a nap and then discovered her trapped between the headboard and mattress. Doctors testified the baby had injuries consistent with being grabbed and shaken.
Trowbridge faces life in prison without parole when he's sentenced on Dec. 6.
