Davenport Superintendent Refuses Raise
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — The superintendent of the Davenport school district refused to accept a raise this year because the district is facing budget cuts.
The Quad-City Times reports that Art Tate asked the school board not to increase his $195,868 salary. Tate has been leading the Davenport district for just one year. He says he believes that he needs to demonstrate measurable positive change to earn a raise, and he doesn't think he did that in his first year. School board president Ralph Johanson says the board appreciates Tate's leadership and has confidence in what he is doing. The board extended Tate's contract to a three-year deal. |
