Davenport Baseball Owner Considers Ferris Wheel
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — The owner of Davenport's minor league baseball team is considering adding a Ferris wheel and carousel to the city's riverfront.
The Quad-City Times reports Dave Heller, owner of the Quad-Cities River Bandits, is working with Davenport officials to see how the city's lease with the riverfront ballpark can financially accommodate such additions. The City Council would need to approve the plans.
Heller says the proposal needs to address how to protect new attractions from floodwater, as well as additional entry to the rides when games are not being played.
Heller says too many details need to be sorted out to confirm the project, but he and city officials are absolutely looking at them.
