IOWA CITY, Iowa - The attorney for the roommate of Iowa football player Derrell Johnson-Koulianos said his client will plead not guilty to an allegation that he was selling large amounts of marijuana from their home.

Attorney Timothy Francis McCarthy II said Thursday that Brady Cooper Johnson has been unfairly labeled "a drug dealer" by some in the news media.

He said "it's a little outrageous" for critics to question Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz about why Johnson and Johnson-Koulianos were allowed to live together. He says they were friends and downplayed his client's prior record, which includes possession of drug paraphernalia.

Johnson-Koulianos was suspended from the team after police raided their home last week and found marijuana, cocaine, prescription drugs and $3,000 cash. He has hired Des Moines attorney Alfredo Parrish to represent him.
