CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Jess Streit will truly have the Cuban restaurant market to himself when he opens his new spot, The Lost Cuban, at 209 Third St. SE.

Streit said he moved to Cedar Rapids from south Florida to join his girlfriend, who had taken a position in logistics at General Mills. He found out the Salsa Del Rio restaurant was for sale and decided downtown Cedar Rapids would be a great place to plant his idea for Cuban food in Iowa.

Streit gave away hundreds of samples of his Cuban cooking at last Saturday’s downtown farmer’s market, and he’s hoping to open in early October.

His web site is still under construction, but you can track Jess’ progress on his facebook page www.facebook.com/thelostcuban .
