Crash Near Muscatine Kills Three

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Three people are dead as a result of a head on crash Thursday morning.

The Iowa State Patrol responded to the crash near the intersection of Highway 61 south and 170th Street at 7:22 a.m.

The driver of a 2005 Nissan Sentra was traveling north on Highway 61 just south of Louisa-Muscatine High School. The Iowa State Patrol said the road was covered in ice which caused the driver to lose control, cross the center line and collide head on with a 2002 Bluebird L and M School bus.

There were no students on the bus at the time of the crash. The three people in the Nissan Sentra died. The bus driver was taken to Muscatine Hospital for treatment for his injuries. The severity of those injuries is unknown. The Iowa State Patrol will release the victims' names as soon as they notify family members.
