LINN COUNTY, Iowa - An exit ramp at the Highway 30/13 interchange in Linn County was closed for several hours following an accident Monday morning.

The crash happened shortly before 10 a.m. along the southbound Highway 13 ramp to eastbound Highway 30.

A tractor-trailer driven by Benjamin Hogan, 26, of Monticello, went out of control, struck a guard rail and overturned on to its side. The tractor was pulling a livestock trailer containing 178 hogs. Several of the hogs were killed or injured as a result of the accident.

The Highway 13 southbound ramp to Highway 30 was closed until Monday evening as Department of Transportation Road crews repair the damaged guard railings and crews remove the hogs from the damaged trailer.
