BENTON COUNTY, Iowa - A multiple-vehicle crash closed the westbound lanes of Highway 30 near the Benton/Linn County line for several hours on Tuesday afternoon.
The Iowa State Patrol originally told KCRG.com that 10 vehicles were involved in the crash, that happened near the Ced-Rel Supper Club. A preliminary report released by the department late on Tuesday indicated only 5 vehicles were involved.
That same report said two people were injured and taken to the hospital.
The crash started when a pickup truck carry a trailer full of dirt crossed through the intersection of Linn Benton Road and Highway 30. A van crossing the highway hit the trailer and separated it from the pickup. It wound up in the middle of Highway 30, where a second pickup crashed into it. A fifth vehicle crashed into the first pickup truck.
