Iowa City School Bus Crashes on Highway 218

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Iowa – An Iowa City School bus carrying several students rolled onto its side Saturday morning near Riverside, Iowa.

At least seven people were injured, including passengers and the school bus driver.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Department, an Iowa City School District bus went into the median and onto its side near the intersection of U.S. Highway 218 and 160th Street in rural Washington County.

Students on the bus were moved to a Highland Community School District bus and transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

The southbound lanes of Highway 218 in Washington County were closed for about a one and half miles starting at the intersection of Highway 92 due to the crash.

An investigation is continuing.
