CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Alliant Energy says a contractor is to blame for a power outage that hit parts of downtown and the New Bo district in Cedar Rapids Friday morning.

The outage started around 11:30 am. The Great America Building and Federal Courthouse are among the buildings that lost power.

An Alliant Energy spokesperson says a contractor hit an electrical line in the area of 10th Avenue and Third Street SE. Alliant hopes to have power fully restored by early afternoon.
