COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa - A Columbus Junction man faces multiple aggravated misdemeanor charges and a felony charge stemming from an incident earlier this month in Columbus Junction.

Steven L. Borges, 26, was arrested for harassment, assault and first-degree burglary after he allegedly broke into the Columbus Junction residence of his child’s mother on April 10 wielding an axe, according to police reports.

According to police, Borges kicked open an entry door and broke a window to gain entry to the home. Police say he assaulted two people inside the home and said “next time I’ll kill before leaving.”

Borges was being held at the Muscatine County Jail Tuesday on a $65,000 cash bond.
