CLARKSVILLE, Iowa - 690 people in Clarksville are without power today and an additional 78 MidAmerican Energy customers in Butler County.

According to Abby Bottenfield, MidAmerican’s media contact, the cause of the outage is not known.

“We are still investigating the cause,” she said.

MidAmerican crews are onsite attempting to get power restored and extra crews are being sent.

“Because it is so cold and we are concerned about the safety of our workers, we are sending extra crews so they can rotate shifts,” Bottenfield said.

Meanwhile, firefighters are fighting a house fire in Clarksville as well. We will provide more details on that shortly.
