Chase in Cedar Rapids Ends with Car Crashing into House
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A car crashed into the front of a house near the intersection of 15th Street Southeast and Washington Avenue Saturday afternoon.
Cedar Rapids Police said they were trying to arrest Clifton Sparks, 30, at 2:25 p.m. near 1st Avenue and 15th Street Southeast on an arrest warrant. Sparks kept driving, but he only got about three blocks away before he hit a Cedar Rapids city bus. Police said that caused Sparks car to hit the front porch of a home in the 300 block of 15th Street Southeast. He, then, got out of the vehicle and tried running away. Police quickly arrested him.
Sparks and one passenger from the bus were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. They are expected to survive. Our crew says there was frontal damage to the bus.
Police inspected Sparks's car where they found narcotics. He is charged with multiple traffic citations as well as narcotics violations.
No one in the house was injured.
