CHARLES CITY, Iowa (AP) — A Charles City teenager has been sentenced to two life sentences for the death of his 3-year-old cousin in 2009.

Fifteen-year-old Edgar Concepcion Jr. was sentenced Monday. He was convicted in June on first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse charges for the July 2009 death of Krystel Banes, also of Charles City.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that Concepcion also was sentenced to 25 years in prison on a second-degree sexual abuse charge and up to five years in prison on a charge of child endangerment.

He didn't look at his parents or other family members in the courtroom when he was led away in handcuffs and shackles after sentencing.
