Center Point Man Wins Best Beard at State Fair

    CENTER POINT, Iowa - A Center Point man entered his whiskers in the Iowa State Fair Beard Growing contest, and won a blue ribbon.

    Harold Stephenson had the longest beard of the contestants from across Iowa. Stephenson's beard measures 41 inches. Dale Hornsby, Des Moines, had the second longest at 25 inches.

    The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each of five classes.
