Cedar Rapids Police to Remove Illegally Posted Signs
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Cedar Rapids Police say they typically seen an up-tick in illegally posted signs in the spring. As the weather warms up, more people put up signs for repair services or garage sales.
People can post a maximum of two signs that are shorter than three feet on their own property, but posting on poles, street signs and in the "public right of way" is illegal. It can also be a safety hazard.
"By illegally posting signs, sometimes they obscure official traffic signals or other warning signs people need to be able to see. It's another distraction for motorists," Cedar Rapids Public Safety Communications Coordinator. Greg Buelow, said.
Police plan to remove any illegally posted signs later this week.
