CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Police in Cedar Rapids have issued a warning to drunk drivers — saying “We will catch you” — as Independence Day approaches.

Extra officers will be looking for impaired drivers Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said the police department received a year-long grant that allows law enforcement agencies to use extra officers on patrol and to establish check points.

The public is asked to report any driver they believe could be impaired, by calling police at (319) 286-5495. Callers should make note of the car’s description and license plate, if possible, along with the location and direction of travel.
