Cedar Rapids Police Investigating Multiple Burglaries

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Police in Cedar Rapids said they're investigating 4 business burglaries that happened overnight.

They all took place on the southwest side of town.

The owners of Eye-Mart on Edgewood Road SW said *they woke up to a call* from police. They said someone smashed in the door of their shop and rummaged around to find money.

An employee said those responsible only made off with a little bit of cash, but they made a major mess on the process.

"They had taken a cement planter from a store down the way, threw it in their door and broke their door open and then brought a big chunk of it down here and thrown in through our door. And we had glass from the front door all the way to the back door of the store," said Sonya Harris of Eye-Mart Optical Outlet.

Harris said Forever Health Café also had its door smashed in.

Police are still investigating, but said they have not made any arrests.
