Cedar Rapids Man Accidentally Shoots Himself During Deer Hunt

MELCHER-DALLAS, Iowa -- A Cedar Rapids man was injured by an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound while deer hunting this weekend.

According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Charles T. Nolte, 37, was hunting in Marion County outside of Melcher-Dallas on Saturday. The DNR said Nolte's shotgun accidentally discharged when he was putting on his gloves, hitting him in the kneecap.

Nolte was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
