WEST UNION -- Authorities arrested a registered sex offender Tuesday when they saw him operating carnival games and rides at the Fayette County Fair.

Tom H. Seago, 49, of Eldorado, faces a second offense of failing to comply with the sex offender registry. Working at a county fair with children present is a violation of the sex offender registry law.

A Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy who saw Seago at the fair knew he was on the registry and made the arrest.

According to the registry, Seago was convicted of lascivious acts with a minor after a 2007 encounter with a female between ages 14 and 17. Just two weeks before this latest arrest, Seago was sentenced to five days in jail and fined $625 for his first violation of the sex offender registry, court records show.

Seago was taken to the Fayette County Jail again on Tuesday, and was being held there for his initial court appearance.
