HEDRICK, Iowa (AP) Agribusiness company Cargill says it broke ground this week on a $29 million feed mill in the small southeast Iowa city of Hedrick.
The privately held company announced Wednesday it had begun work on the plant, which is scheduled to be completed in late 2014.
The feed mill will be capable of producing 350,000 tons of pelletized hog feed each year.
Cargill says in a news release that the plant is located near feedstock used to supply the mill. It's also near pork processing plants.
Sioux City-based Younglove Construction will build the mill.
Cargill is based in Minnetonka, Minn., and has 140,000 employees in 65 countries. It's one of the nation's largest pork processors.
