TOLEDO – No one was injured when a car struck a post office Wednesday in Toledo.

Police said 83-year-old Charles L. Patterson, of Toledo, was driving around 4 p.m. when his car struck the post office at 200 W. High St. Patterson told officers he was pulling into a parking space when his foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator.

Toledo Police Chief Jeff Harnish said the east wall of the post office, near the entrance, sustained the most damage. Cost estimates to repair the building and Patterson’s car were around $16,500, he said.
