Cancer Fundraiser Raises $2,600 for UIHC
IOWA CITY, Iowa - The work of two Cedar Rapids teenagers paid off Monday morning for children battling cancer.
After months of fundraising, Natalie Runneals and Jenna Banaszek presented several checks to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. The girls also took a tour of the hospital to see how their money will help out. Natalie and Jenna have been selling purple bracelets in honor of their fathers. The bracelets carry the words “we cancer-vive.” Both of their fathers are battling cancer. “I think we decided if it was this hard on adults, we see what our dads go through,” said Jenna Banaszek, “just imagine what the kids go through.” “I know we’ve both been here a lot,” added Natalie Runneals,” not at this specific hospital.” ” We know what the families go through,” Jenna said. Overall they sold about 700 bracelets. That, plus some additional donations, added up to about $2,600 for the Children’s Hospital. Both girls say their dads are extremely proud of them. |
