PARKERSBURG, Iowa - Investigators in Butler County are trying to figure out how a Waterloo man went missing in a private pond in Parkersburg -- and eventually died.

Sheriff's Deputies were called to a pond on the southwest edge of Parkersburg just after 8 p.m., Saturday. Friends of the man, 21-year-old Alex Etringer ,of Waterloo, found him under water. Responders took Etringer to a Cedar Falls hospital and then to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where he was pronounced dead. Investigators are awaiting autopsy results before announcing a cause of death.
