Burlington Man to Stand Trial Over Infant's Injuries

BURLINGTON, Iowa - A Burlington man is accused of shaking his infant will stand trial for child endangerment.

The trial for Timothy Mitchell is set for Jan. 4. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

The case stems from a May incident that sent Mitchell's then- 3-month-old child to an Iowa City hospital. A report from the Department of Human Services that says the child suffered "a brain bleed."

Police say Mitchell claimed the baby squirmed out of his arms as he was bouncing the child to calm him or her after being hit in the head with a book by a sibling.
