BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - A Burlington man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a deadly crash that killed a friend.

The Burlington Hawk Eye says 23-year-old Levi Swanson was sentenced on Monday for vehicular homicide in the death of 22-year-old Kylan Burell, also of Burlington. A Des Moines County jury convicted Swanson in September.

Authorities say Swanson led police on a high-speed chase in March. The chase ended when Swanson crashed into a tree. Burrell died at the scene.

Swanson was sentenced to 10 years in prison on the vehicular homicide conviction. The sentence will run consecutive with a five-year sentence Swanson was given on an earlier conviction.
